This pen captures Jurojin, one of the Seven Gods of Fortune and known to be the God of Longevity. He is often accompanied by a deer and a tortoise which are shown in this piece as they are animals that also can symbolize longevity and wisdom. He is often depicted in Japanese art as he was considered auspicious.
About Danitrio Yokozuna Fountain Pen Series:
This is Danitrio's largest fountain pen line, giving the maki-e artisans the largest canvas to depict their masterpiece. When placed side-by-side with other pens, it towers over them with elegance and intimidation.
In sumo wrestling, the "Yokozuna" is the highest rank a sumo wrestler can achieve. The term means horizontal rope which is derived from the rope that is worn around the Yokozuna's waist.
Nib Details:
This pen is furnished with an 18k Gold, #50 nib. The #50 nib comes in only one standard tip size.

About the Artisan:
This pen was hand-painted by Tatsuya Todo (Kosetsu). He is an established maki-e artist who carries a strong name in the urushi fountain pen world. He was trained under the notable Masanori Omote (another artisan that works with Danitrio). He has had his pieces exhibited in numerous urushi exhibitions and holds the Dento Kogei-shi title, which an honorary title meaning "master of traditional crafts" and is given only to a select few artisans who have a significant contribution to their craft.
