This pen depicts the artwork of a tengu. Tengu is a legendary supernatural creature in Japanese folk religion, sometimes referred to as a heavenly sentinel. It takes the form of a half bird/half human and has a distinct feature of a beak'ed nose.

About the Artisan:
This pen was hand-painted by Kosetsu (Tatsuya Todo). He is an established maki-e artist who carries a strong name in the urushi fountain pen world. He was trained under the notable Masanori Omote (another artisan that works with Danitrio). He has had his pieces exhibited in numerous urushi exhibitions and holds the Dento Kogei-shi title, which an honorary title meaning "master of traditional crafts" and is given only to a select few artisans who have a significant contribution to their craft.
